The Parrot Ranch
Also less than 30 minutes from Otaki, you'll find a Bird Lovers Haven - The Parrot Ranch. This is the largest collection of exotic parrots in New Zealand. Join in at feeding time, and chat with the friendly and talkative parrots who just love attention! Visit the bird nursery where you can see eggs being incubated and newly hatched parrots being nurtured. There's also a Reptile Room, with a great variety of lizards to meet, plus Turtles, Wallabies and more! Nga Manu Nature Reserve
Immerse yourself in New Zealand's beautiful scenery and meet some of our most precious native creatures at Nga Manu Nature Reserve. There's the prehistoric Tuatara (a living dinosaur), the Morepork (New Zealand Owl) and a nocturnal Kiwi House. You can feed eels, walk through an excellent aviary of native birds or take a bush walk or a stroll through the lush fernery. The look-out tower gives awesome views across Nga Manu, and there are lovely picnic areas and ponds and streams here.
